Meet the Kalan Brews Team
We are a small, family operation with deep connections to our origins (South Africa and Sweden) and our local community in Jamaica Plain, MA. We believe in individual and collective change, and aim to change the world around us in our own small ways — through our work and our coffee roasting. Our goal is to provide you with a great cup of coffee as you do what you do best in this world!
Ravi
Co-founder of Kalan Brews, Ravi is a roaster and is involved with developing roasts, tasting and selecting the best coffees for our offerings. When he’s not roasting, brewing or drinking coffee, Ravi is an avid soccer fan and player, passionate about criminal justice reform, and loves tinkering with his Xbox.
Heeten
Also on the roasting team, Heeten researches (some would argue over-researches) most aspects of Kalan Brews: sourcing coffee beans, learning about roasting techniques and machinery, and developing the business. He loves visiting his homeland South Africa, going on safaris, and nerding out on projects.
Rohan
Witty and creative with words, Rohan leads our marketing and communications efforts. While he does not consider himself a coffee drinker, Rohan still relishes an occasional Kalan Brews latte. He loves most sports and sports trivia, appreciates good podcasts, and is practicing his basketball dunk.
Jenny
Originally from Sweden, where drinking coffee is a national pastime, Jenny brings her creative expertise to our designs, packaging and outreach materials. She loves gardening, reading, cooking and ensures we use proper grammar (we don’t call her the grammar-queen for no reason).
